It is also used by people who have a high risk for serious heart and blood vessel problems to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, certain types of chest pain, death from heart disease, and needing certain types of heart surgery. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. It works by improving how well your body gets rid of LDL cholesterol.
