This medication is used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This product contains 3 medications: amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide. Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. Valsartan belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). They both work by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.
